Getting around Albania

By furgon (minibus): The backbone of Albanian transport. Depart when full, inexpensive, and cover most towns. No schedule — just show up at the station.

By car: The most flexible option for exploring rural Albania. Roads have improved significantly. Car rentals available at Tirana airport from €25/day.

By taxi / ride-hailing: Tirana has Bolt and local taxi apps. Always confirm the price beforehand for traditional taxis.

By ferry: Ferries connect Durrës to Bari and Ancona in Italy. Seasonal services also run along the Riviera coast.

By bicycle: Tirana has an expanding bike lane network. The lakeside route around Lake Shkodër is spectacular.
